Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - January 13
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
WHAT A NIGHT!
Haha. The last screenshotted lineup I posted was 320 points. Glad we evened things out a bit. I may have said it 1 billion times, but just in case you needed any more proof I’m not trying to pretend I’m an expert at this. You could ask your 8 year old little brother to make a team for you based on his favorite players in his video games and he’d crush my score last night. Blog picks were MCW, Tyreke and Towns – hey, at least we didn’t get any snowflakes? Perfectly mediocre!
So yeah, just kind of winging it as we go here. Glad everyone is along for the ride.
PF Boogie Cousins $10.5K
Out of all the studs going tonight I’m rolling with Boogie again, no doubt about it. Whenever you pay this much for a guy you want to be sure you can realistically get 5X value on him, and if there’s anyone I feel confident about hitting 53 fantasy points tonight it’s Demarcus. Two reasons – a combo of the Pelicans D being awful this year, and his recent resurgence of monster lines. 55+ in his past 4, with a 70 pointer in there…that’s the kind of upside that puts you way up on the leaderboard assuming you can mix in some smart value plays.
PG Chris Paul $9.1K
Isaiah Thomas is probably my favorite PG play tonight for just straight up points-to-cost upside, but you have to consider the fact he’ll probably be very highly owned. He’s been playing lights out and is still underpriced, so even a big slate like this a lot of people will flock to him. Meanwhile CP3 has quietly been putting up superstar stat lines, and is stepping it up offensively with Blake Griffin out. He’s still priced at Chris-Paul-In-His-Prime which tends to scare people off him – every time I’ve played him, he’s been under 10% owned. He’s also been bordering on 60 point fantasy games over the past few weeks, so I don’t mind paying up for him in a plus matchup tonight and the hope he’ll be way underowned.
F Drew Gooden $3.8K
He’ll be highly owned, but it’s one of those times where I think fading him is way too cute. Gortat is in the hospital and Humphries is still out – that leaves Gooden to play 30 minutes, and last game out he promptly dropped a double double. He’s old, probably washed up, but when you can get a starter at 3.8K it leaves so many options open for the rest of your lineup while still locking in a solid 20-30 points. If you still insist on looking elsewhere, there are more value play possibilities below.
Keep an eye on…
-Melo. If he’s out, Lance Thomas will get the start and Derrick Williams will get plenty of run – both good value options.
-The Mavs. Most likely going to rest their starters, which opens the floodgates on Barea, Felton, Powell and maybe even Javale.
-Who starts for Draymond. If it’s Marresse Speights, he’s a good value play.
Others guys to consider…
Damian Lillard has been insane lately…it’s not the best matchup in the world with the Jazz, but he’s on another level right now. I like Tyreke again even after he burned me last night, and Harden’s price is dropping to the point where you might be smart to take a chance on him busting out of his slump. For some cheaper guys I like Gallo, Dwyane Wade, Jeremy Lin, and Ramon Sessions if Wall can’t go. Also with Dragic out, look for Tyler Johnson to be a high upside value play.
…
That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.
